Finishing a piece of furniture well makes all the difference in the success of a project. This class will teach you how to get it right.
Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, you will learn the entire finishing process, from wood preparation to rubbing out the final coat. This includes selecting the proper abrasives, sanders, and fillers, layering of colourants, ebonizing, glazing, brushing, and rubbing the final finish to perfection.
Key Learning Points
Charlie will also discuss spray finishing, and each student will be able to practice spraying lacquer.
Work is done on practice panels provided by the school. Students who are interested in doing so are encouraged to bring special pieces of their own wood to experiment with colours and finishes.
This class is intended for all woodworkers from beginning hobbyists to those running small professional wood shops.
