Based on tool cabinets originating around the turn of the 20th century, this project build class is a great fit for woodworkers who believe that power and hand tools can live and work in harmony.
You will be able to advance your case-making skills using traditional and modern joinery techniques with a strong focus on ascetics that can be applied to every furniture piece you build going forward.
Along with the cabinet’s construction, significant time will be dedicated to planning the internal layout to suit your specific tool collection. Students should expect to leave the class with a cabinet ready for finish and a clear plan of attack for making and installing their own custom tool hangers and organizers.

Students should come ready to explore the world of veneering and the possibilities this wonderful material allows that are not possible with solid wood.
PLEASE NOTE: The internal layout of a tool cabinet is very personal and dependent on the tools to be stored and the frequency each tool is used. Come ready, think about, and collaborate with fellow students to develop a plan of attack for your cabinet layout. Documentation and demonstration will be provided as a starting point for chisel racks, saw tills, and plane tills. Time will not permit the application of a finish or the fabrication of racks and tills.
