Greene & Greene Table with Darrell Peart

In this class, you will learn about the Greene and Greene style and build a classic Rafter Tail Table.

The table design is based on the rafter tails at the Gamble House in Pasadena, California, which reach beyond to support the roof.  These tables rely upon G&G motifs and concepts and take a few sweet liberties.

Some basic style principles of Greene & Greene include subtle round-overs,  soft edges, and setbacks where no two elements are on the same plane – one element is always proud of the other. This combination makes for beautifully soft depth and shadows.

TOOL LIST:  Please bring a 3/8th mortising bit and a dust respirator.  We’ll be working with Sapele – an African Mahogany, and even with vacs and air filters running, it tends to be a little dusty.
