Young Hands Woodworking – Bird House
Level: Open to All, Minimum Age 10
This is a great parent/child class with a small project that is easy and fun but gives younger students an opportunity to try their hand at woodworking.
As a team, the parent and child will work on crafting a beautiful and usable bird box.
While several of more advance level cuts have been pre-done, both of you will have an opportunity to:
- use the bandsaw
- use a pneumatic nailer
- sand with a random orbital sander
- glue and clamp a structure
- use a pyrography pen (burning pen)
While the glue is drying, we’ll break for lunch and there are some lovely restaurants locally so you can make a day of it!
Don’t worry we’ll show you how to do everything – it’s easy!
You’ll sand it to perfection and apply an organic soy oil/beeswax finish and you’ll be set to go!
If you are feeling bold and creative you can do little burning design on your board using a pyrography pen.
Lots of fun, super easy, wonderful results.
You do not need any experience for this class. We will keep you safe, you’ll have a great time.
