In 2012 Alexander Grabovetskeiy was chosen as the National Carver of the Year and his work is astonishing.  This traditional carving class will start with  with an in depth study of how to sharpen and hold the gouges, how to design carving and the feel for the techniques of woodcarving in the round.  If you are new to carving or been working on your skills for a while this is a class that all levels can build on.

Level:
Open to All

What You Will Learn:
You will learn learn how to carve a few simple boards that will include the techniques of using gouges to do the majority of outlining and

defining the lines of the designs.  Alexander will then help you learn how to think in 3D, how to think through the entire carving process

from start to finish and how to carve efficiently.  It’s then on to more advanced carving including the techniques of drawing and carving in the

classical tradition.  Additional projects will focus on further advancing the tips and techniques of carving.  There will be a discussion of how to
