This evening class taught by Beth Ireland is an introduction to the art of woodturning.
This class will benefit furniture makers, artists, sculptors and wood lovers. Whether you are a beginner, or even if you have been turning for a while this class will provide a safe atmosphere to develop and improve your wood turning skills. You will have your own lathe and plenty of hands on time to work on a wide range of projects. You will focus on three areas of wood turning – Spindle (handles, wine stoppers, rolling pins), Face work (bowls, platters, plates), and Endgrain (bowls, boxes, goblets).

There will be an sessions on sharpening, proper tool use, woodturning safety and machinery maintenance.
You won’t need any tools for this class. We want you to become familiar with them before you go out and buy anything. If you already have some, bring them with you. We’ll help you make sure you get the most out of them.
The class will start at 5:30 and will go 9pm, so you may want to bring an evening snack to keep you going. There are bathrooms if you need to change from work clothes.
