Learn To Make Kitchen & Shop Cabinets
August 19 - August 24 | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Learn How to Make A Kitchen or Shop Cabinet
Learning how to build cabinets allows you to dramatically improve the look and functionality of your kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, and shop as well as the value of your home.
In this hands on class, you will learn the practical aspects of cabinet making as well as how to think about design and layout.
This class focuses on design and technique and requires that each student be comfortable and proficient at using woodworking machines such as the joiner, planer, and tablesaw to mill and dimension lumber and make basic joints such as mortise and tenon, box joints, and miters. This class is open to intermediate and advanced woodworkers. We recommend having taken one or more of our (beginner woodworking classes) or similar and having completed at least a couple of basic furniture projects on your own. Feel free to (contact us) with any questions.
During the class you will make a single cabinet and we will pack alot of learning into the process.
You will hone your skills in sequencing, construction, joinery, and safe tool operation while learning to make,
- Face Frames
- Cabinet Doors
- Multiple types of joinery
- Hardware selection and installation
A simple cabinet plan will be provided. The cabinet scale will give you plenty of time to work through all aspects of the build. While we recommend working from the provided plan students are welcome to design their own cabinet but we ask that you have the majority of design complete beforehand and discuss your ideas with the instructor roughly 1 week prior to the start of class to insure that the scope of the project will suit the time and space restraints. If your project is overly large it will hinder that process. The class will feature numerous demos as well as time for project work.
Come with your game face on ready to pick the instructors brain clean, and collaborate with and support you fellow students. Finally leave invigorated to develop your own successful designs and execute those designs with confidence. Your goal should not be to leave with a 100% finished project, rater to find and solve all of the design challenges that arise with any project and have the majority of assembly complete requiring finishing touches.
