Learn How to Make A Kitchen or Shop Cabinet
Learning how to build cabinets allows you to dramatically improve the look and functionality of your kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, and shop as well as the value of your home.
In this hands on class, you will learn the practical aspects of cabinet making as well as how to think about design and layout. You will need some basic to intermediate woodworking knowledge – you might want to check out the weekend woodworking class at a minimum.
During the class you will make a single cabinet and we will pack alot of learning into the process. You will learn how to:
- Design and make cut lists for cabinets
- Select the hardware – hinges, handles, drawer slides, shelf supports
- Select hardwood ply and solid woods for project
- Cut and dimension materials
- Create “the box”
- Create face frames, doors, shelves and drawer faces
- How to select basic finishes.
This scale will give you plenty of time to work through all aspects of the build. If your project is overly large it will hinder that process. A simple cabinet plan will be provided. You should aim not to complete the project, but to drill down and understand all of the actions and techniques associated with building your own. The class will feature numerous demos as well as time for project work.
You’ll hone skills in sequencing, construction, joinery, installation, and safe tool operation.
