July 22 - July 26 | 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Build a Mid Century Modern Slab Coffee Table
Level: Open to All
Mid-Century Modern architecture and furniture can be found in homes and designer showrooms around Florida and the rest of the US. It’s clean lines, practical style and just all around “cool” promise to stay a part of the custom furniture and woodworking world for decades to come.
That’s why we’ve added this special evening class that will teach you some of the basics of woodworking featuring a mid-century modern style slab table as the build project.
You will learn basic woodworking skills and take that table home with you!
The class can be taken with no previous knowledge and is a good entry to future classes. In four to five (fifth evening is optional if you finish early) evenings you will learn the general process of woodworking, how to prepare and size a live edge slab, how to sand, and how to apply a finish. You will also learn about tool set-up and proper techniques for using hand tools (sanders, squares, chisels, scrapers).
There will be a variety of slabs of different species and sizes to select from, no two are ever the same. Remember that slabs usually have some character aspect to them – there might be pin holes, cracks, bark inclusions – this is what makes a slab beautiful. We will size the slabs to be approximately 18″ – 35″ wide x 40″-60 long.
Tuition: $370 per person + $470 Materials
Material fee includes a slab approximately 18″ – 35″ w x 40″-60″ l, 1 set of black hair pin metal legs.
Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $45 if this is your first time registering.
