This evening class taught by Beth Ireland is an introduction to the art of woodturning.
This class will benefit furniture makers, artists, sculptors and wood lovers. Whether you are a beginner, or even if you have been turning for a while this class will provide a safe atmosphere to develop and improve your wood turning skills. You will have your own lathe and plenty of hands on time to work on a wide range of projects. You will focus on three areas of wood turning – Spindle (handles, wine stoppers, rolling pins), Face work (bowls, platters, plates), and Endgrain (bowls, boxes, goblets).Open to All
In this hands-on class, you will learn about wood selection, tool sharpening, chucking techniques as well as the techniques of spindle, end grain and faceplate turning
while creating useable objects such as tools, small vessels and a bowl. There will be an enfaces on sharpening, proper tool use, and woodturning safety and
machinery maintenance. You will also learn detailed methods for sanding and finishing your projects
