Wood Turning for Furniture Makers | Beth Ireland

September 8 - September 9 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Wood Turning for Furniture Makers with Beth Ireland

Level:  Open to all

Woodworkers and woodturners tend to travel in their own circles, but a lathe is a very useful tool, even for the occasional turner, as most woodworkers tend to be. Wood Turning takes some practice, but it’s a little bit like riding a bicycle; once you get the hang of it, it stays with you forever.  Join architectural wood-turner and instructor, Beth Ireland for this practical hands-on class as she shows you how to do a variety of turning for furniture applications such as duplicating parts, and turning from a square section to round (like the top of a table leg).

In this class you’ll learn some useful techniques and skills so that you will be able to to make:

  • Mallets and hammers
  • Tool handles
  • Pulls
  • Legs and spindles
  • Dowels, plugs and pegs

With a little bit more practice, you will also be able to turn gifts such as small bowls, lidded boxes and jewelry which make lovely easy gifts.

Fees:
Tuition: $450 per person

Studio & Materials Fee: $30

Non-Refundable Registration Fee:  $45 if this is your first time registering.
