FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIP

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Friends of the Florida School of Woodwork is a non-profit that promotes involvement and engagement in the turning, carving, and furniture field through a tuition scholarship to classes at the Florida School of Woodwork.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP

To apply for the scholarship first determine which classes you would like to apply for then go to: SCHOLARSHIP and complete the application on the lower half of the page.

Scholarship requests will cover the full tuition of any week-long class that is currently available  The Scholarship is not transferable to another person and is specific to the class you select and are approved for.

The important things to know about the Grants:

  • Up to $1,000 towards tuition and materials/tools
  • Must be at least 18yrs old
  • You are responsible for the $45 registration and any travel costs
  • Valid for one year from the date award
  • Non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash
  • Paid directly to the Florida School of Woodwork

A notice will be sent to the recipient once a Board determination has been made.  Any scheduling conflicts–for example, the class chosen by the recipient is full and will not be offered again within the one-year time frame–will be considered by the Board on an individual basis.

Any Grant not redeemed within the allowed time frame is void and will be re-issued to another applicant.

If a student fails to attend the class for which the Grant has been awarded, the Grant will be withdrawn and issued to another recipient.

You may apply for a Grant as often as you wish, however, once a Grant is awarded the applicant must wait two years before being eligible for another Grant.
