This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to use and incorporate the Shaper Origin into your woodworking projects with a great instructor – Erik Curtis – in a comfortably paced class.
You will make three projects of increasing difficulty levels–a small box, a wall hanging cabinet, and a side table. Each project will utilize the Shaper Origin for at least one component of the project, offering students a chance to dive deep into the Origin’s capabilities. More traditional processes and techniques, such as machine-cut joinery, hand planing basics, and sharpening, will also be employed.Â
Key Learning Objectives
While we will work on projects throughout the week, this class is primarily a learning vehicle, and the projects shouldn’t be the only reason to take the course. By the end of the week, you will understand how to use Shaper Origin as a tool in your workflow.Â
This class is aimed at intermediate to advanced woodworkers, though beginners are welcome. It will require being on your feet most of the day, though there will be demo times to sit and relax. I also encourage students to take classes at their own pace—you are here for your own edification, after all!
TOOLS NEEDED: You will need to bring your own Shaper Origin and, if you have one, a Workstation. LINK to Shaper Origin Home page. Â
The School has three Origins that can be shared (2 people to each Shaper). If you do not have a Shaper and want to take one of the six slots, please inquire before registering at [email protected] to make sure a slot is available.
