[Tampa, FL] Today, the Florida School of Woodwork announces their class schedule and guest instructors for 2018. The school was officially established in May of 2017 since being founded as in 2004 as an adjunct to Franklin Street Fine Woodwork. The School is housed in a beautifully renovated industrial building that was placed on the national historic register in 2014. Hobbyist, amateur and professional woodworkers are all welcome.

Since its official opening, the school has caught the attention of both national and international woodworkers and students. Classes cover both technical and design based woodworking and is taught by some of the most highly respect makers in North America such as Michael Fortune, Michael Cullen and Beth Ireland. Classes are offered for a wide range of skill levels from introductory to advanced.

“We are your local, world class woodworking school,” said Swann, “where you can learn everything from furniture making, turning, and carving from the luminaries in the craft.”

As part of their syllabus for 2018, the School is bringing in high calibre instructors.

A five day box making class (open to all skill levels) will be taught by Michael Cullen from Jan. 22-26, 2018. The course is designed to push the conventions of creating a box beyond the “six sided container.” Cullen is a master craftsman based out of California Many of his pieces have been displayed throughout North America and Europe.

Then, on Mar. 19-Mar 23, Vic Tesolin from Ontario will be teaching a class about minimalist woodworking (open to all skill levels). The course is designed to teach students about working with hand tools and joinery. He’s the author of “The Minimalist Woodworker” and currently works as the Technical Advisor at Lee Valley Tools.
