Randy Maxey

Randy’s woodworking interest started as a child watching his father work as a carpenter. He has built many pieces for his home and family. His commission work is done under the name Cherry Ridge Woodworks. Randy specializes in teaching woodworkers of all experience levels how the proper use of hand tools can augment their craftsmanship and creativity.

Randy served for ten years as an editor for Woodsmith magazine and is a contributing editor for WOOD magazine and Furniture & Cabinetmaking in the U.K.. He has contributed to several woodworking books aimed at beginning woodworkers. He is working on a project, MiniMaxWorkshop.com, to encourage woodworking in small workspaces.

In a previous life, he ran a consulting business specializing in computer-aided design software and he utilizes CAD when designing and building woodworking projects. Born and raised in central Ohio, Randy currently resides with his wife in the Tampa Bay area.
