Intern

Internships allow us to share our workshop with talented young woodworkers. We offer artistic and administrative internships. Internships are demanding, with time spent in a variety of capacities.

Qualifications
We’re looking for a friendly, polite, and artistic personality to fit our workshop culture. Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with staff, students, and instructors. Versatility is important as workshops change on a weekly basis. We’re partial to practicing artists looking to work in a creative environment of like-minded peers.

Responsibilities
All interns help with:

  • Studio cleaning and maintenance
  • Trash
  • Cleaning bathrooms
  • Workshop set-up
  • Faculty transportation
  • Events
  • Assistance as needed

Artistic interns assist faculty and students in the studio with projects, tools, and supplies.

Administrative interns focus on school operations, marketing, social media, and accommodating participant needs.

Schedule
Minimum 20 to 40 hours a week, with two days off per week. Occasional evening or weekend hours. Specific schedule arranged between intern and supervisor.

Dates
Internship positions are offered year-round. Specific dates arranged with intern.

Workshop Assistant 

Assistants are essential to the success of workshops. We want to be sure the position is of maximum value to you. Our expectations are high, but the learning is invaluable.

Benefits
You will be working with professionals in various woodworking disciplines and gaining teaching experience. Compensation is $10/hour and includes overtime.

Qualifications
We really love an approachable and helpful personality. After that, we look for experience, commitment, and goals. Generally, we expect class experience at our workshop. This ensures familiarity with the workshop layout, methods, and machinery.

Responsibilities
Include but not limited to:

  • Monitoring student safety in machine room
  • Running errands
  • One-on-one work with students
  • Building jigs and fixtures
  • Shop and machine maintenance
  • Daily bathroom cleaning
  • Material preparations
  • Help with daily clean up and weekend changeover

Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional Saturday or Sunday

Dates
One to six-week position. Dates dependent on class schedules.
