November 14 - November 15 | 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Cost: $185

Getting your tools sharp is possibly the most important skill a woodworker can learn, it is the gateway to good  joinery and planing from all of your edge tools.  It is particularly important to know how to do it right when you are just starting out.  This class is a great foundation for the Unplugged Joinery class.

Level:
Open to All

What You Will Learn:
Step by step, you will learn and practice the sharpening process including  abrasives and the sequence in which they are used, sharpening jigs

and tools, wet & dry sharpening, free hand and jig guided sharpening.  Each of the tools and and their role in the sharpening process will be

covered in depth.  You will learn how to obtain and maintain a good sharp edge. We will discuss various sharpening systems as well as different

bevel angles and why they are used. You will also get ideas for setting up a sharpening station in your shop. You will learn what to look for in a

plane no matter where you purchase it and how to correct deficiencies. We will flatten plane soles, adjust frogs and make your planes shave! At

the end of the class you will practice using sharpened and tuned planes.  Please note that this class is two evenings in a row – 5:30 – 8:30pm
