A wonderful opportunity to explore the art of carving and textural surface work in a very creative way. This class is open to non-woodworkers as well as woodworkers of all skill levels who would like to break into new territory.
Taught by renowned furniture maker Michael Cullen a regular contributor to Fine Woodworking magazine, you’ll investigate different approaches using basic hand tools such as gouges and rasps.
This workshop will explore ideas and techniques using projects such as vessels and trays as the canvas. Emphasis will be on creating pattern and texture using carving tools- a signature element that Michael is renowned for, but also some new techniques such Suiseki Daiza – the setting and presentation treasured stones. Daiza combine both nature and art with woodworking challenges.
